USAMI Rin est née en 1999 à Shizuoka. Elle commence à écrire au lycée et publie un premier roman en 2019 qui reçoit les prix Mishima et Bungei. En 2020, à l'âge de 21 ans, elle reçoit le très prestigieux prix Akutagawa pour Idol, faisant d'elle la plus jeune lauréate de l'histoire du prix. USAMI Rin vit aujourd'hui à Tokyo.
