Agrégée de lettres modernes, Camille Laurens a enseigné en Normandie puis au Maroc où elle a passé douze ans. Elle vit maintenant à Paris. Elle a obtenu le prix Femina et le prix Renaudot des lycéens pour Dans ces bras-là (2000). Elle est traduite dans une trentaine de langues.
